Images of indigenous peoples, and early settlers
Grabill was a photographer who made sepia-toned photographs in the late 1800s in South Dakota and Wyoming, depicting native Americans, early settlers, and the interaction between the two populations. He sent one hundred and eight-eight images to the Library and Congress between 1887 and 1892 as part of the process of registering them images for purposes of copyright.
